Male Tears is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between artist Hello The Mushroom and ad-busting collective Subvertising Norway, consisting of a city-wide ad takeover, limited-edition zine and separate exhibition at Gamle Munchmuseet.

On 13 August 2024, 40 adverts promoting Hello The Mushroom's fictional ‘Male Tears’ perfume brand were installed in advertising spaces around Oslo.

On the occasion of the exhibition Male Tears by Hello The Mushroom, Street Art Oslo produced a zine documenting the project featuring images by photographer Nima Taheri and a commissioned essay by poet and visual artist Eleanor Flowers.

Sara Lucas aka Hello the Mushroom is an artist from Lisbon, now living in Oslo. Their artworks are mainly image-based, made from reused print media, and explore topics such as life, death and cultural expectations of women, often in a humorous way.

Subvertising Norway is a not-for-profit collective of artists, activists and designers dedicated to questioning who has the power and authority to communicate and create meaning in public space through acts of creative subversion and art-based activism.
